Salad Bètrav Ak Karot

This salad right here is from salad heaven. Yes it is truly.

Usually served with a meal, or at various events, it is not a salad that will be served alone. As with many Haitian dishes, it is cooked and served differently by different households but the base remains the same : beets, potatoes and mayonnaise and of course spices make up this amazingly simple yet great tasting recipe.

Materials needed
Large pretty bowl

2 cups beets cut in small squares (so it looks pretty)

½ cup potatoes

½ cup  carrots

1 cup mayonnaise

1/4  cup diced onions

pinch of salt

pinch of pepper

pinch of thyme

finely chopped  parsley


Start by thinking how you are going to enjoy your salad!

  1. In your bowl, dice beet into small squares, cutting through middle, then perpendicular, then from the top
  2. Add carrots, mayonnaise, salt, pepper. Combine all together with a large spoon.
  3. Add onions, then thyme. Sprinkle parsley in top to dress and serve


Serving suggestion: As a side dish for main meal, like our rice and beans
