Kanèl Spice Cake Recipe

Materials needed

9 inch cake pan 

electric mixer


Crumble :

1/3 brown sugar

1/2 cup All Purpose Flour

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 cup butter (room temperature)

Cake mix: 

1 1/2 cup flour

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp cinnamon

½ tsp salt

½ cup of butter

3/4 cup of brown sugar

3-4 tbsp Bakara Rhum Kanèl

2 eggs, beaten

1 cup of milk


Start by thinking how you are going to enjoy this your cake!


1. mix everything together, with butter last

2. lightly start rubbing the mixture with butter between the palm of your hand, until the small bits of crumble start forming, set aside.

  1. Preheat stove to 350 F. Grease the pan and set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and set aside
  3. In your mixer, cream 1/2 the brown sugar and butter until smooth (2mins). Add the Kanèl Rum. 
  4. Add remaining brown sugar, mix just enough to blend.
  5. Add the eggs, mix 1min.
  6. Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk. Beat until smooth
  7. Transfer batter to the cake pan.
  8. Bake for 35 mins, or until toothpick comes out clean 
  9. Allow to cool (5 minutes), before enjoying.

Ready to serve !
