This is a less well know type of Haitian rice but it is nonetheless tasty and pretty quick to make. And when you are ready to make this recipe, the boiled beans can serve double duty because you can also make some black bean sauce with the same type of beans.

Pot + lid
1 Cup cooked black beans (can be canned)
½ T. vegetable oil
2 Tbsp Epis Mixture
1 minced garlic clove
1 ½ Cup room temperature water
1 chicken bouillon cube
1 scotch bonnet pepper (do not break it unless you really think you can handle it)
2 garlic cloves
1 Tbsp butter
1C. rice
1Tbs olive oil
Start by thinking how you are going to enjoy this meal !
Add to your pan beans, oil, garlic, epis
Allow to sautée, on low heat, for 4 mins while stirring. add water, bouillon cube. Raise heat to medium-high and allow to boil
While the broth is boiling, rinse rice with room temperature water. Reserve rinsed rice. Dispose of rinse water.
Add rice to boiling water and lower heat to medium to allow rice to cook
This is the perfect time to taste your rice and see if the flavor is how we want. Let cook for 13-15 mins.
Lower heat to minimum. drizzle some olive oil over the rice, cover with lid. Let steam for another 10 minutes.
